Whether you’ve grown up in the pacific northwest or just played some old Tony Hawk Pro Skater you’ve more than likely heard of the infamous Burnside skate park in Portland. It sits under the east end of the Burnside bridge. If you ride bmx or a dj bike you know about the once a week allowance of bikes at this sacred skate haven. Sunday mornings for a few hours you are allowed to unleash your two wheeled pony on the historic concrete thats claimed both skin and bone for decades. My buddy Levi messaged me and said that he was going to be out there on Sunday at 9am. So naturally I grabbed my camera bag and show up. He happened to be there with my buddy Max and Dan, his dad. We had a good time hanging out and both Levi and Max enjoyed their first experience here. I hung out for a couple of hours watching all the tables, tail whips, foot jams and wall rides. I snapped a few pics before we left to grab some sopes, tacos, burritos and a quesadilla at Ole Frijole. one of my favorite mexican spots in NE Portland. Take Levi’s word for it, you want to try the horchata.
Hope you enjoy the pics and remember Sunday morning bike service at Burnside starts as early as you want it to start!
